Honor 7X Review – The Budget All-Rounder

In this review, we will find out whether Honor 7X is still the most value for money budget phone.

This is the review of Honor 7X all-rounder budget phone from Honor a sub-brand of Huawei. The phone is available for purchase from Amazon India.
Honor 7X was released in December 2017 that means its been more than 6 months since the phone was launched. Despite all other smartphone launches in the last 6 months, This phone is still one of the most affordable smartphones that offer an incredible mix of performance and value for your money.

Honor 7X continues the trend of smartphones with the aluminum body. Build quality is great. Honor 7X was among the first phones to jump in on the trend of 18:9 aspect ratio. It has big 5.93 inches IPS LCD display having the resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels (407 PPI ) which sport 18:9 aspect ratio. The display has a protection of an unspecified version of Corning Gorilla glass. I can confidently say this phone offers one of the best display in this price segment. Consequently, the overall phone feels more premium than the price you pay.

Camera Performance:

Honor 7X has dual camera consisting of 16 megapixels f/2.2 26nm lense along with 2-megapixel depth sensor and LED flash at the back. Front facing camera is 8 Megapixel f/2.0 27nm lense.  The primary camera captures bright photos that are don’t reproduce colors accurately.  The camera tries to analyze the depth of field quite aggressively and sometimes misses the crucial details resulting in blurry edges.

Front facing camera is great and tries to capture polished images. Photos captured with both the cameras are at par with other smartphones offered at this price point. I must say camera performance is a bit ahead than other competitors in the same price segment.

Software and Performance:

Honor 7X comes with Android Oreo 8.0 with Honor’s custom UI which is EMUI 8.0. Some users will prefer it over stock android due to tons of additional features and gesture added to it. UI is very user-friendly and does the job well.

Kirin 659 SoC (system on chip) which powers Honor 7X, delivers user-friendly performance. The phone is snappy and doesn’t feel underpowered. Kirin 659 is comparable to Snapdragon 625, which is a midrange processor from Snapdragon. The phone can run most of the Apps and Games without lag.

Battery Life:

Honor 7X offers decent battery life despite having enormous high-resolution display thanks to its 3340 mAh battery and strict battery optimizations coded in EMUI. Though I think bigger battery and quick charge facility might have done wonders for this phone.

The phone comes with 4 GB RAM and choice of storage 32GB and 64 GB. 32GB version is a better value for money since both the versions are exactly similar except storage, which can be added through SD card. As a result, Honor 7X offers great value for money and offers most features than any other budget smartphone in this price segment. Definitely go for it.

Honor 7x is available for purchase on Amazon India website in two versions.
